Virus "This is Your Revolution" is the first EP from you guys. What were your general feelings as you entered the recording process? And then, when you held a copy of the finished version in your hands? The Semester "This is Your Revolution" was our first EP, but we recorded a really sketchy demo in a basement a long time ago. anyways, we had all recorded in previous bands so we kinda knew what went on, but we recorded at two fish studios in Mankato, MN and that place was nuts. seriously it is an old church so of course it is huge, and they just left to place to oursleves everynight. stuff was out of control haha. But ya basically we enetered just wanting to make this production the freshest thing ever. holding the final copy in our hands was rediculous. we never expected it to turn out that good, our producer was the illest...big ups to luke harper. Virus You guys play a fair amount of shows. Are the crowds accepting? And, what priority rating do you give live shows? The Semester Shows are everything. honestly, like if you watch a band give on a lame live show then you are over it you know. you have to put everything into shows. |
thats how you make 70% of our fans...i think. We play as many shows as possible and bring in a good amount of people so i would say people are preety accepting. the scene around here is really cool because one night we will play with our good friends crashing by design (name drop), and the next night we will play with four letter lie and too pure to die (check them out). so our scene itself is really accepting.
VirusYou named your new EP "This is Your Revolution" Could you give us some insight on why that title?
The Semester Alright so the concept our title came from the thought of how everything changes with time. whats happening right now is your revolution. we wanted our sound to be a new revolution among all the bands coming out. it seems to us that almost all teens bands are screamo bands. we decided to stick with a style that has no screaming and basically a different style than the norm right now.
Virus I love the artwork for the cover of the CD, who designed it, and why that design?
The Semester well first off thank you. our drummer derek made all the artwork on the cd. he explains it like this haha "the woman manican with the tv for her head is a resemblance of how life is now all about beauty and media...thats all life is." If you own the cd and know the inside panel artwork it is a look at the past in chronological order. it goes from "leave it to beaver" style families, to people just growing beauty.
VirusWhat are your plans for the near future?
The Semester well....we have a lot of plans. we are being released on the next drive-thru records/purevolume compilation cd which is nuts, we are going on our first tour in the winter from dec.22-jan.3, and we have been making a lot of new stuff right now and will be recording again hopefully before june.
Virus What obstacles have you encountered, thus far?
The Semester well not really a lot of if any obstacles...we just got a van that we hope doesnt blow up or fall apart on tour. haha.
Virus What is the Semester all about?
The Semester being the freshest boys in the world and making hunnies fall in love haha. ummm actually we are all about.....i dunno making friends i guess haha.(That has got to be one of the best responses I've ever gotten.)
Virus What do you do when you aren't doing band related things?
The Semester o god dont get me started. we are all best friends so we are with eachother all the time. we like ear ball, shows, computer, hanging out, girls, boys, making music.
