Bleak Anthem

Bleak Anthem have been fucking around for about five or six years now, and just recently (in the last year) they have decided to put more effort towards the band as a serious project.
Here's some history: In seventh grade, James, Jason and Steve decided to start a band. Steve was already playing guitar, James was going to be the lead singer and Jason was to play drums. For whatever reason, James ended up buying a drum set and Jason bought a guitar. So the musical chairs begin...James played drums, Jason played the guitar, as did Steve. Derek, (who was getting a bass at the time), was introduced to the guys through Jason, and joined. Their first gig was a vocal-less showcase of noise on James' birthday. After more weekly practices, it was decided Steve should sing, considering he wrote the songs. From there, they played backyards, church basements, pretty much anywhere they could play. At the time they were called overXposed. Derek's dad had a cheap recording connection, so they jumped on it, but the CD sounded cheap, too. Their second recording was inspired by their April 2000 show at the Roxy, and turned out just as shit as their first. Their third recording attempt didn't go very well, either. It was done with their friend Issac who, it seems, didn't like Steve's singing much, as he was constantly interrupting him during recording. The CD was never finished. From there, it all slowly stopped. Steve was busy with his own thing and everything fizzled. Last Summer, James, Jason and Derek started really applying themselves to their new side project, Your Little Sister. Jason handled guitar and lead vocals as well as most of the song writing, James helped with songs, did the back-up vocals and drums and (stealing from their bio), "Derek played the freakin bass like nobody's business." They wrote a few songs and recorded a four-song demo with Issac. Steve was asked to come back a couple months later, creating a re-designed band. The idea of a new school punk band called Your Little Sister didn't sound right, so after tossing some words around they have settled on Bleak Anthem. Interview - Visit Here |
