The Lolitas
Virus: How do The Lolitas tackle songwriting?
Matt V: I write all the music, Molly Cash writes all the lyrics.
Molly Cash: Usually, Matt gets the guitar/rhythm down and I'll write some lyrics that go with it, and then we piece it all together at practices.
Matt V: Jimmy Dead is starting to write some of the guitar now, too though.
Virus: How long have you been songwriting?
Molly Cash: Oh since waaaay back in the day on my good ol' acoustic. I think I wrote my first complete song when I was about 12/13. I also have a solo acoustic side project.
Virus: Who are your favorite bands to play shows with?
Jimmy Dead: The Ripcordz.
Molly Cash: Kid Apprehensive and Ignoranus were too much fun on tour in September. We had an insane time. And I also really enjoyed playing with The Martyr Index out of Calgary.
Virus: Any notable stories from your September adventures?
Molly Cash: On the drive from Cranbrook to Trail we raced a lot, and threw things like....I dunno....bagels...at each other ;)
Jimmy Dead: I'm ususally passed out by 11...so I missed most of it.
Virus: How did you hook up with Plaid Skirt Records?
Molly Cash: Kat from Plaid Skirt originally approached me for my accoustic project, and I brough up the fact that I was in a punk band, which really sparked her interest.

Matt V
Virus: Any favorite gigs?
Jimmy Dead: Cranbrook last weekend was a lot of fun...and the CD release show was cool.
Matt V: The Trail show.
Molly Cash: The show in Cranbrook last weekend was a LOT of fun...we all went for the traditional Denny's dinner afterwards (well, minus passed out Jimmy D).
Virus: What are your plans for right now?
Molly Cash: We plan to be recording our full length near the end of April.
Jimmy Dead: Scrap the Hat Tour this summer with Martial Law and End to an End.
Molly Cash: In July, we're heading out on tour across BC and Alberta.
Virus: Are you into zines?
Molly Cash: I used to make a zine called Revolution is Glamorous. I got to interview Brody from The Distillers at Warped. I'm thinking of reviving it.
Matt V: I have a video zine...it's just trading and shit...
Virus: What's it called?
[long pause]
Matt V: Ahhh, Punkrock Video.
[the whole band laughs]
Molly Cash: *not me.
Molly Cash: haha.
Virus: What is your favorite flavor TimBit?
Molly Cash: What's a TimBit?
Virus: They're Tim Hortons donut holes.
Molly Cash: I've never had one :(
Virus: Oh my gawd!
Molly Cash: *so sheltered*
Molly Cash: I imagine I would like chocolate, though.
Jimmy Dead: Chocolate.
Phil: Rum.
Matt V: Glazed.

Jimmy Dead
Virus: How long do you figure the full length will take?
Molly Cash: Probably about a month to perfect, I would think. Including recording, mastering, mixing, etc.
Matt V: We just want a good album...however long it takes.
Virus: Got a title yet?
Molly Cash: I think the title is pretty much undecided right now.
Virus: Try to describe your sound.
Molly Cash: Ohhhhhhh sub-genres are nasty.
Jimmy Dead: Dead Kennedys meets Guttermouth meets oldschool stuff.
Matt V: Fuck, I dunno.
Molly Cash:Hang on. I'm being slow because I'm thinking.
[long pause]
Molly Cash: Ach. I'm gonna just go with the cheesy title we throw with everything: estrogen fronted punk rock.

Psycho Phil
Virus: How did you know this would be the right line up?
Molly Cash: When our songs started piecing together so easily, our styles absolutely connect on a level they didn't with previous line ups.
Jimmy Dead: We've all been hanging out for years now, so it was real natural.
Virus: Tell me about the website
Molly Cash: I've been designing the website since day one, since before the band even had a drummer! It's been through so many layouts.
With a more than promising first attempt, and a growing fan base, all The Lolitas have to do is what they're doing. With a little more exposure, they'll take over BC.
