Senses Fail
Virus: Why are you in Senses Fail, what is it about this band that's made you stick with it?Buddy: The first time we ever played together, there was just feeling that it was gonna be good. I was like a weird vibe, all the elements were there. It gives the chance to say what I want and write about however I'm feeling. I think we all have to have some creative out put or we'll go crazy. Plus everybody is a great kid.
Virus: What do you hope to achieve with this band?
Buddy: I was thinking about this last night. It's not the money or the fame but it's the chance to play music, music that I feel passionately about and to have other people enjoy it and find something in it.
Virus: What are your plans for the new album?
Buddy: Well right now we're not to sure. We're going back in the studio in June to record 3 more songs. Hopefully we'll get picked up by a lable to release our ep. We do have a split Cd with a band from England called "Visera" which should be comming out next month.

Virus: What is the scene in NJ like, is there a genre bias, or is it pretty accepting?
Buddy: It's great. There are so many great bands that have come out of this scene, Thursday and Saves the Day just to name a few. No there really isn't a genre bias, there are so many different kinds of bands it's really great to be able to play a show with a hardcore band, punk, ska and of course emo band. It really helps to get your sound to people that otherwise wouldn't hear it.
Virus: What are the best clubs to play in NJ?
Buddy: Well the scene down here really isn't based on clubs, which is really cool. Most times we play at VFW"s, churches, and other smaller rental halls. There are a few though that are really cool like Krome, Birch Hill and Hamilton St which has really blown up in the last couple months.
Virus: Who are the best independent bands in NJ? (besides yourselves, of course).
Buddy: I'd have to say Armor For Sleep, Hidden in Plainview, Spindle, Don't Look Down and the June Spirit. There really is a lot of talent in the NJ scene right now.
Virus: When people think of Senses Fail, what do you want to come to mind?
Buddy: thats a hard one. Just a great band, that writes great songs and sends a message in their music. as for our live shows, that we have great energy and passion on stage.
Virus: When do you think the ep'll be out?
Buddy: Umm I really have no idea, hopefully sometime next fall or winter. We're in no big hurry right now. we're just looking to play as many shows as possible and get our name out.
Virus: Why did you choose Nada Studios?
Buddy: We'd heard a lot of good things about it and many good bands have recorded there like: Brand New, Shai Hulud, Auto Pilot Off and many others. After we went the guy who owns it Jon, did such a great job. We had to go back, he really helped catch our sound.
Virus: What are you looking for in a label?
Buddy: Right now, just to press our cd and get us out there. Hopefully they'd have good distro but as of right now all we need is to get our stuff recorded and pressed.

Virus: This is the part when I ask the band to describe each other, can you do the honors for the everyone?
Buddy: Well Garrett the guitarist he comes off as a pretty quiet kid but he's pretty nutty sometimes. He is the one who pretty much writes the music, that is his job. Dan the drummer, He's only 15 but he is so good on drums. If you meet him you'd never expect that he was 15...he acts like a 21 year old. Dave the other guitarist is the one who deals with a lot of the business such as getting shows, burning CD's for shows and entertaining us with his teal shirts. James the bassist is probably the funniest kid you'll ever meet in your life...and he's a great guitar player as well as bass. He has added a lot of depth to our music. I'm well, I'm just the crazy lead singer...that writes the fucked up lyrics and goes nuts at shows.
Virus: Here's my silly escapist question...your dream gig - where would it be, and who else would be on the bill?
Buddy: well it would be at place called Tweed which is and old abandoned military base, which is scary as fucking hell at night. There is this whole legend behind it. Well the bands that would be there would be Poison, Journey definitely Wesly Willis and my favorite band Jets To Brazil.
