Voyd

The Bio
Voyd is a four piece rock band from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. They draw many influences from the alternative music boom of the early nineties. Voyd formed four years ago when childhood friends Ryan Keith (bass), Ryan Pegg (drums) and Kevin Walby (vocals\guitar) bought instruments and started writing and playing songs together. Weeks before Voyd's first performance at a local block party, Darren Miller (guitar) played some of his own material for Kevin and was instantly added to the line-up. October 2000 marked the release of the full-length: The First Gay Album , which was recorded by Saskatoon’s own Steve Portman of Six Pack Studios. Later that month, David Shanks (2nd bass player) parted ways with Voyd. During the following weeks, the boys performed as a three-piece until Paul Bazin-Webster agreed to take on the seemingly cursed bass position. The summer of 2001 brought a tour of western Canada, in support of The First Gay Album. In February of 2002 Voyd released “It Doesn’t Pay to be Gay, Or Anything Else the Bewildered Herd Deems Deviant”, recorded once again by Steve Portman. One columnist for a local newspaper, the Sheaf, had this to say about the new album: “Voyd has come into their own with this new release, and have begun to use their power as rock musicians to express themselves in a town where expression is best done with the thrust of a young wannabe's crotch or the failed attempt at twirling a drum stick.” With a solid lineup and international exposure via the San Diego Internet site: mp3.com, Voyd hopes to realize their goal of constant and extensive tours of the universe.
