Bleak Anthem - EP
| This four-piece from Long Beach are not your typical teenage loud-and-angry-with-no-talent punk bands. This six song is full of catchy tunes that ring in your head long after you've turned it off. The album starts by throwing the fast and furious Stars on Ours at you. Copy-Machine Music Scene starts out very instrument-heavy, sarcastically attacking the next best thing drama, "...every band is gonna be the next best thing&every band is gonna change the scene...there's only so much room at the top of the ladder." My favorite on this album, hands down, is Polaroid Girl 2. At first I thought the title was meant as homage the original Polaroid Girl (I can't remember if it was Bratmobile or Huggy Bear, circa 1995), but I don't think so. I think this song best showcases their abilities as a band. Six Point Nine follows closely behind as another of my Bleak Anthem favorites, a little faster and definitely the catchiest track on the CD. |
