The Lolitas make me think of Bratmobile, espeically my favorite song on I Want More, "My Girlfriend Daisy". JP5 also comes to mind, but without the trashy stage show, and just in case you're thinking it, no they are not another Bikini Kill clone, not even close. Mp3.com says they're emo, but I think that description makes them sound more whinny than they are. Miesha (vox) has a voice that pulls you in and makes you hear every word, while you're dancing around your living room to the tunes Matt (lead guitar) firmly plants in your head. I Want More is beyond a promising first release, it is an effort that brings out their strengths and announces who they are. If they keep going the way they're going, they'll explode creatively and take over. |
