Girl Swirl #11
|
Taryn's writing is just wonderful and while this is the first issue of Girl Swirl I've ever read, I think it's safe to say I'm officially a fan. In this issue Taryn talks about new years resolutions, greyhound adventures, train adventures, her brother's heart condition, a piece on her old roomie Val, being in love, short (fab) fiction and 16 zine reviews. The way Taryn wrote about her brother's heart is both informative and emo and it reminded me about my father and the 'c' word. Her piece on being in love (sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g) is sweet, not too cheesy. I think I'm just jaded about the whole thing, but reading about her happiness made me smile. The fiction here is an enjoyable read, though it's the second installment of the story, and I have yet to read the first part in Girl Swirl #10. The zine reviews were good too, there are several zines reviewed here that I hadn't heard of before, that I'll be checking out. 4.25 in x 5.5 in / 48 pages / $2 / Girl Swirl / PO Box 26 / Warminster, PA / 18974 / |
